St. Giles Presbyterian Church
Exterior/Parking: There are handicap designated parking spaces by the playground and sanctuary entrances. The closest parking option to a wheelchair accessible entrance is street parking on Tuckahoe Blvd. However, there is a dip in the pavement for drainage that might be challenging. Otherwise, we recommend parking in the lot by the playground for best accessibility.
Entrance and Interior: There is a handicap entrance into the Church House from Tuckahoe Blvd. There is a ramp, and a button that can be accessed from a wheelchair for entry into the building. There is one handicap restroom and it is also located in the Church House on the same floor as the singing. We will update information here describing bathroom access more fully, stay tuned. There is a ramp from the back alley entrance to the Sanctuary that is wheelchair accessible but no handicap restroom available in the Sanctuary. Within the Church House, level changes are navigable via ramps with rails and elevators.
Equipment: The church has several loaner wheelchairs which event attendees may use. Please contact the phone number below if you would like to have one set aside for your use during singing events.
For the annual convention: we will have a designated door greeter until 10:30 who can offer guidance, recommendations, and assistance. After 10:30, that person will be available via phone should you require extra assistance. The site of the singing and meal will be in the church house, thus accessible via the ramps and elevators mentioned above.
For our regular singings: we have the church sanctuary reserved for our regular singings. When possible, we sing in the choir area for the acoustics. This is accessible via a small set of stairs with rails. We are also able to sing in the crossing area of the Sanctuary below the stairs.
